Orenda: A Passion Project Inspired by the Ocean
Nikki · 23 July 2026
Some businesses start with a business plan.
Orenda Freediving & Island Cruises started with a passion for the ocean, a love of teaching, and a dream of sharing the incredible underwater world of Koh Tao with others.
After more than 14 years of teaching freediving, coaching students from around the world, and exploring the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Thailand, I realised that the greatest achievements weren't measured in metres. They were measured in confidence, connection, and personal growth.
That's how Orenda was born.
The word Orenda comes from the Indigenous Iroquois people and describes the powerful spirit and energy that exists within every living thing. It represents purpose, intention, and the ability to create positive change. Those values are at the heart of every experience we offer, whether you're learning to freedive, joining a snorkelling trip, or stepping aboard our sailing yacht for the first time.
More Than a Freediving School in Koh Tao
Many people think freediving is simply about holding your breath.
In reality, it's about learning to relax, slowing your mind, improving your breathing, and discovering what you're capable of in one of the most beautiful marine environments in the world.
At Orenda Freediving, we specialise in personalised freediving courses in Koh Tao, from beginner experiences to advanced training and instructor certifications. Small groups and private coaching allow every student to progress safely while building confidence in the water.
Whether your goal is exploring colourful coral reefs, diving deeper than you ever imagined, or simply feeling more comfortable in the ocean, we're here to help you every step of the way.
Discover the Beauty of the Gulf of Thailand
The waters surrounding Koh Tao are famous for their incredible visibility, vibrant coral reefs, tropical marine life, and calm conditions throughout much of the year.
From graceful sea turtles and schools of tropical fish to hidden bays and dramatic underwater landscapes, the Gulf of Thailand offers unforgettable experiences for both beginners and experienced ocean lovers.
Our snorkelling trips, freediving courses, and sailing adventures are designed to help you experience this beautiful part of Thailand in a relaxed, personal, and environmentally responsible way.
Sail, Snorkel and Explore
Orenda isn't just about freediving.
We also offer unforgettable sailing trips around Koh Tao, private yacht charters, sunset cruises, island adventures, and snorkelling tours to some of the island's most beautiful locations.
Imagine sailing across calm turquoise water, dropping anchor in secluded bays, snorkelling over healthy coral reefs, watching the sunset from the deck, and ending the day under a sky full of stars.
That's the experience we want every guest to remember.
A Community Built Around the Ocean
Orenda has never been about becoming the biggest dive centre.
It's about building a community of people who love the sea.
Whether you're visiting Koh Tao for a holiday, looking for the best freediving course in Thailand, joining a snorkelling adventure, or booking a private sailing charter in the Gulf of Thailand, you'll be welcomed like family.
Every student, every guest, and every adventure matters to us.
Our mission is simple: help people slow down, reconnect with nature, and leave with unforgettable memories of the ocean.
Because Orenda isn't just a business.
It's a passion project inspired by the sea, and we can't wait to share it with you.
